Count down south

The power and possibly the ego of Des Lynam seems to have surfaced, and as of next year his only current television show, Countdown, is relocating from its Leeds studios to “somewhere near the M25″ because he is apparently fed up of having to travel up to Yorkshire for a week once a month to record the programme. This 400 mile taxing routine seems to be all too much for poor Des according to certain newspapers. Read more

MediaGuardian today reports that the BBC is considering plundering ideas from times past yet again to revive another show from days of old. This time, the programme in question is Survivors, or rather Terry Nation’s Survivors as the Nation Estate would probably prefer it to be known this time around. Read more

It’s good to see Steve Coogan back starring in a BBC2 sitcom. His intermittent forays into Hollywood have hardly propelled him into the A-list of stardom (Around the World in 80 Days anybody?) Read more

“Duts”

Thursday, April 20, 2006 by · Comments Off

Having seen some of the new series I have to agree with Steve in that it is great to see Bullseye back on the box (albeit stuck out of mainstream way on Challenge), and Dave Spikey seems to be a fairly good replacement for Jim Bowen, but isn’t it a little annoying the way that he says “duts” instead of “darts”?

You won’t be able to watch the show without thinking about that now.

Catching snippets

For some of us, now is the time when our hard-drive recorders come in very handy. Unlike Graham, who was fortunate enough to have attended the Doctor Who press event the other night, us lot had to retune our Sky Digiboxes to BBC Wales last night to catch some of the first glimpses of the new series, or try to see clips on one of the breakfast programmes when we should have been at work. The never ending bottle

And so the final dregs have still be to be drained from the vessel containing the Last of the Summer Wine. Tuning in last night for the first time in a while it is refreshing to see little has changed for the old men of the Dales. It is quite incredible to think the show has been running for well over 30 years now, especially considering it was last really funny in about 1984 during the Compo, Clegg and Foggy golden age.
