The perfect sunrise

Thankfully I don’t frequent the sort of internet forums and newsgroups where BBC1′s Breakfast is going to generate a substantial amount of pixel-space, so I don’t know what the common consensus is on the show’s new look. And in fact, I don’t know if this is something that premiered today, or yesterday during the bank holiday.

However, catching the programme this morning I did wonder if Dermot and Sian had decamped to the emergency studio, or something, as they sat cramped behind their desk in front of an Ikea-type diorama. In fact, the latter is actually the show’s new talking point, a 90-foot wall upon which “the perfect sunrise” is projected. It looks worryingly like RI:SE‘s “six pack” get-up.

There’s also more piped-in music, which will take a bit of getting used to, and – seemingly – a separate sofa area. As I only watched for about 15 minutes, I’m not sure how this’ll be utilised. Will Dermot at one point, get up from the desk, straighten his tie and then stride over to the soft furnishings for a sit-down chat with Joan Collins? That would be great.
