They were misled into thinking that taking the Digital route was an advancement, they were happy accidents on terrestrial.

Television is the most passive medium of them all, which is why fans of it are over passionate. The programmes begin, end and its on to the next one. With all these extra channels, the indifference is multiplied, just idly flick through them all in a day, a programme or advert might catch the eye for a moment, then its time to move on. Richard and Judy are the latest victims of this. Cut adrift from their daytime moorings, they have found to their horror that their ‘loyal’ fanbase didn’t take the journey with them.

Mark my words, if the BBC has the brass balls to move Eastenders to BBC3 permanently, that channel would not be getting 9m+ viewers. The majority of EE’s current audiende tolerate it, but when pushed, wouldn’t give a toss if it went.

Same goes for Richard and Judy. You have to nurture your audience, nourish it. R & J took theirs for granted and payed the price…
