Rumours abound at Wood Lane as to who will replace Gill, and all are agreed she’ll be a hard act to follow. General view is that, despite some misjudgements over the years, she has been a strong editor who is well-liked and leaves the magazine in an extremely healthy state.

Well, good luck to her, because she’s clearly a nice lady. But she was never suited to Radio Times. She even turned the logo into an imitation of Family Circle.
