Seems to continue the modern trend for more understated clothing for the Doc, derived generally from the middle of the last century (9th Doc, 30s/40s jacket; 10th Doc vaguely 40s-ish; 11 Doc kind of like a 1950s academic).

Were it not for the bow tie, you could walk down the average British street dressed like this and not attract a second glance. Maybe that’s taking “understated” TOO far?
